Overview of the Testing Facility

    • Vision
    • - Developing new technologies for the renewable ocean energy (tide, current and etc.)

      - Contributing to research and education in the fields of coast/shore/ocean science and engineering

      - Researching technologies for coast/shore climate change adaptation (disaster management in relation to climate change)

      - Assessment and technology developments of climate change adaptation

    • Main functions
    • - Hydraulic model tests of ocean and harbor structures

      - Hydraulic model tests for tsunami hydrodynamics and hazards

      - Hydraulic model tests for the diffusion of pollutants and thermal effluent

      - Hydraulic model tests for beach morphological changes due to the coastal structures

      - Hydraulic model tests for floating structure dynamics

      - Hydraulic model tests for harbor tranquility

      - Experiments for wave overtopping, reflection, and transmission characteristics of coastal structures including sea wall, landfill area, airports, coastal roads, and etc.

    • Features
    • - One of the largest 3D wave basins in Korea

      - 2D large-scale wave flume which is effectively considered waves, tides, and currents simultaneously for coastal development
